The Very Best Calf Skin For Bookbinders.

calf skin leatherBookbinders Workshop (together with Franz Hoffmann Fine Leathers, Stuttgart, Germany) have developed a superb range of calf skin.

These calfskins are suitable for restoration, conservation and fine binding.

The skins are fully vegetable tanned and are soft to handle.

Pictured on the left is an example of the "antique ochre" shade.

Some book calf is dried on glass to impart what I feel is an unnatural smoothness, this calf is not dried on glass and has the natural surface of a quality calf skin.

We take considerable pleasure in offering what we consider to be the worlds finest leathers, and we are firm in our belief that we have no competition when it comes to the quality and price of the fine Franz Hoffmann leathers. They are made according to strict German standards and have no equal, they are quite simply the best.

The leather takes blind tooling and tooling in gold perfectly.

There are at present 6 colours on offer, though more will be added later in the year. While we have tried to give a realistic rendition of the colour of these leathers some variation may occur from the pictures.

I received my equipment. Wow, the quality is astounding I don't know where in the states I could get tools made this well. The large laying press and finishing press are massive and the sewing frame is to die for. I guess old world craftmanship still lives. I am glad I bought from you instead of buying in America just to get it fast. To have the equipment (made and) delivered within 30 days was not too long to wait. Frank

I received the type holder yesterday, it actually arrived quicker than I thought it would.
Thank you for all your help and for the great customer service, really appreciate it. Bruno

The DVD's arrived last week and I have been glued to the tv screen. I have been busy sharpening my knives the way the DVD teaches, and it works! Great to have really sharp knives. Mac

The article on calf marbling was awesome, when you get around to publishing your book, put me down for a copy. Jake

I just wanted to say thank you for being so patient with me over my choice of bookbinding press, so nice not to be subjected to the hard sell. Mary
