Family Bibles are restored everyday around the world. Unfortunately, a great number of them are not done so correctly, and are NOT in keeping with the historic character of the book. In these bookbinding tutorials I give instruction on rebacking and restoring these large cumbersome books in true period style - is a subject that has not been previously addressed in any detail. This is unfortunate, because to the owners of these books they are utterly irreplaceable and priceless, and they ARE willing to pay better for better work!

A vast number of structural and cosmetic nuances are demonstrated that have caused much frustration to many binders in restorations such as this. The before & after images below, are of the actual bible that was restored on camera.  Mr. Chrisman teaches his select "carving" technique, which creates a near imperceptible joining of old and new leather.
