Bookbinding Tutorials on DVD By Michael
Chrisman.
Volume 5 The Restoration of a Family
Bible.
Currently out of stock, back
in stock Feb 2012.

Family Bibles are restored everyday around the world.
Unfortunately, a great number of them are not done so
correctly, and are NOT in keeping with the historic character
of the book. In these bookbinding tutorials I give instruction
on rebacking and restoring these large cumbersome books in
true period style - is a subject that has not been previously
addressed in any detail. This is unfortunate, because to the
owners of these books they are utterly irreplaceable and
priceless, and they ARE willing to pay better for better
work!
A vast number of
structural and cosmetic nuances are demonstrated that have
caused much frustration to many binders in restorations
such as this. The before & after images below, are of
the actual bible that was restored on camera. Mr.
Chrisman teaches his select "carving" technique, which
creates a near imperceptible joining of old and new
leather.

Also learn how he creates the same effect when re-adhering
the original spine cover. Edited away are the unnecessary
minutes. THIS DVD SET IS FULLY INSTRUCTIONAL FROM BEGINNING TO
END.
This DVD demonstrates the entire process of how to restore
these heirlooms correctly, and allow the binder / restorer to
realize fees that are commensurate with elevated mastery of
these techniques... and be assured that a customer will pay
more for better work.
I know from my own experience that
a week long residential bookbinding course in our neck of the
woods costs from £350 - £450, and for that you learn only a few
bookbinding techniques, this library of tutorials teaches you
many dozens of essential & useful techniques, all of which
are available for instant replay.
NTSC Run Time - 3 HOURS / 50 MINUTES

These DVDs have
been professionally produced (Memory Central Videos, SLC,
